The Jayden Fund Open Night

The Changing Face of Fund Raising

We had the launch party for The Jayden Fund on Saturday 24th February 2007 and what a launch party.  Who would think that you could raise money for such a good course just by waxing a guy’s body!! Well that’s exactly what happened!

It was decided that as the majority of the guests were young, then a young night’s entertainment was in order and Nikki, Jamie and the rest of the young people on the committee decided that would like nothing better than to see their friends having their chests waxed in public. So Ben and Gaz were chosen for this task.  Thank you to Carla who was in charge of the waxing procedure.

The event was held at the Fisherman’s club along Prince William Parade and Thank you to them for the loan of the hall. Great Venue!!

Pictures of Jayden were posted around the room.  An exhibition stand was placed with details of the treatment he is having and more information about Cerebral Palsy.  Balloons supplied by Fantasy Balloons were statically placed around the hall to give that party atmosphere.

The whole evening went far better that we ever thought possible.

Not only did we have relatives from a far come to the support the evening, but Grandad Les even raised £100 on the night only to be match by another £100 from a family friend James and they too showed the young ones that even the older generation were game for a laugh!!

Not to be out done by his mates Steven Morton a long time friend of Jamie’s decided he would have his head shaved to raise another £100.

Two football cards was also distributed amongst the guests, who ever pick the correct team won £40.  Danny Smith and Louis won the money, but put it straight back into the fund.  Thanks for the generosity guys.

The total was a massive £1,610.10

Young people get a bit of a bad press these days. So it’s good to see that this motley crew of youngsters, who were a bit merry by the end of the evening, are top friends and are not afraid to put their hands in their pockets and help their friends (Nikki and Jamie) give their little boy the help he so greatly needs.

Thank you to everyone who attended this fund party….. It was a great evening!!
